This report summarizes CoC incidents reported to or resolved by the OpenAPI Code of Conduct Committee. CoC incidents occurring in the OpenAPI community reported to and resolved by the Linux Foundation Events team (LF Events), or project-level Code of Conduct responders are not addressed in this report. LF Events publishes its own separate transparency report, available here.
This report aims to provide a balance between transparency and protecting the privacy of victims and reporters to ensure a safe space for reporting. To ensure we are honoring our commitment to protect victims’ and reporters’ privacy, this transparency report does not provide personally identifying information about victims or reporters and provides only summary information rather than details of each incident.
All incidents resolved by the OpenAPI Code of Conduct Committee have been handled in accordance with the OpenAPI Code of Conduct policy and guidelines.
Incidents Reported in 2024
Incident 2024-1
A report was received regarding a community member who made rude and aggressive comments on a GitHub issue on an OpenAPI repository toward other contributors and maintainers. A related report was also received from the community member reporting dismissiveness of comments they made. The CoC Committee met and reviewed the comments. The CoC Committee made the decision to issue a warning to the community member based on the enforcement guidelines in the OpenAPI Code of Conduct.
Incident 2024-2
The same community member from Incident 2024-1 opened a GitHub Issue with rude and hostile comments toward maintainers. After the GitHub Issue was closed, the community member opened several GitHub Issues attacking maintainers and contributors and amplified those issues via social media. The CoC Committee met and reviewed the actions. The CoC Committee made the decision to permanently ban the community member based on the enforcement guidelines in the OpenAPI Code of Conduct.
